sippin' on champs while musing on a tetris fridge

i woke up today at 1.30pm. i haven't done that in ages. sad to say, i just don't party hard anymore. as much as i loved it back in the day, a night at home on the couch with the boyfriend is much more appealing to me. but occasionally, i like to really ride the party train. last night was one of those times.

right now, i'm sitting in my living room, looking out onto the street and sipping on the left over champagne from the party. i just waived hello to mike hamm who is double parked outside, waiting for sandra.

sandra threw her graduation party at our house, celebrating the ending of the bachelor's degree days . joining in that was katrina, her little cousin, who just received a masters from UIC in mechanical engineering (wow!). as usual, parties at our house are well attended and often get a little rowdy. at 3, the cops came to tell us to shut the hell up.

sandra and her mother, amanda, spent most of the week preparing for the party: shopping, cleaning and cooking and plating food. the spread was pretty impressive. empanadas with homemade mojo, egg rolls, bbq meatballs, hummous, veggies, bread, spinach dip, crackers, deli meats with cheese trays, sushi, cheeseballs and chips, cakes made of cream cheese, flan and a special blue banana cake that looked like a graduate's cap.

basically, this week, i couldn't really grocery shop because the fridge was already packed tight full of party foods and drinks. i've always loved the game tetris and found every time i opened the fridge to remove something, it became a tetris challenge. needless to say, i didn't really do any shopping this week.

i decided i was done partying around 4.15am and just went to bed. i didn't really drink, again, my partying days are pretty much over. at parties, i usually have one or two drinks over the course of the evening and just spend a lot of time talking to the people that look interesting. but after spending the day getting up early to work out, helping the boyfriend clean up a bit, going to heather's for becky's bachelorette party, stopping off at kate's and then coming home to party, i was ready to kick back with some z's. i just didn't expect to do that until 1.30pm the next day.

i woke up to find the house half cleaned up already (thanks sandra) and kinda hoped the tetris fridge incident was beginning to pass. i was wrong. wow!
