affogato

affogato means drowned. in italian cuisine, it means gelato drowned in espresso and finished off with chocolate or caramel sauce. it's a nice simple way to finish off a five course meal. of course, it should be small. at least they are when you're in italy.

but at kopi cafe, the affogato is made up of a large scoop of ice cream (i don't think it's gelato. then again, it's not gelato unless you're in italy. i know, i'm snobby like that and i won't apologise!) and a generous shot of espresso. what makes me love kopi's particular affogato is that they add nutella to it. this is pushing it so far beyond the limit of what is insanely sweet. yes, it's total overboard, overkill, over whatever you wanna call it, but it's heaven on crack.

seriously. heaven. on. crack.
